HOMEMADE WINTER SIMMER POT
Scents like pine, cloves, orange, anise, and cranberries can bring the magic of winter right into our homes. Simmer pots also lack the harsh toxins that are packed into conventional air freshener sprays and many scented candles. Just fresh ingredients from your kitchen! No fake fragrances or toxic chemicals needed.
I love using up fresh citrus peels or additional fruits that would otherwise end up in garbage. This is a great way to repurpose them.
INGREDIENTS:
•1 medium pot + cold water
•1 apple sliced
•1 orange sliced
•Any extra peels from fresh apples, oranges, mandarins, or grapefruits
•1/2 cup of fresh cranberries
•1 rosemary bunch
•Fresh pine needles
•2 cinnamon sticks
•1 teaspoon of cloves
•1 teaspoon of star anise
•A few pepper corns
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Fill a medium pot with cold water, about 3/4 full.
2. Add sliced fruits and spices.
3. Bring to a slight boil, then let simmer on low heat up to 4 hours or until water has evaporated. You can add more water and repeat until fruits dissolve.
4. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
